The apartments house MARIJA is situated in Pula - a well known ancient town and port on the Adriatic coast. Pula is situated on the south side of the west coast of Istra. It reminds us of Rome for many things. It is surrounded by seven hills and one of them is the well preserved amphitheatre from the 1st cetury - sixth in the world for its size.
Pula is full of ancient monuments. Here we mention just the August temple from the 1st century and Dvojna (Dual) and Hercules' gate, the only remains of former town walls. The triumphal arch of Sergijevci put up in the 1st century BC, the so-called "Golden gate".
The chapel of st. Maria Formoza dates back from the Byzantine period (6th century). Pula cathedral was built for centuries. The oldest parts date back from the 4th century.
The house ARTUSI is ideal starting point for visiting and traveling around Istra. We can recommend some wonderful places such as Rovinj, Sibenik, Novigrad, Umag or excursion to the National Park of Brijuni. There are excursions on Sundays on green farms in 30 km inland and walking on marked paths through woods.
